Concordia University School commenced operations in 2005 under the management of LUMIN in partnership with the South Wisconsin District of the LCMS, Concordia University Wisconsin and the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee after Nazareth Lutheran Church and School closed their doors.
LUMIN purchased the school property from the District in 2007 and completed a major building addition and renovation in 2008, adding large, bright, air-conditioned classrooms, a full size well-equipped gym, an art room, resource rooms, expanded cafeteria and kitchen, wireless technology and LUMIN offices. The LUMIN offices expanded to accommodate growing academic leadership and business services staff in 2014. The school was renamed Granville Lutheran School in 2015.
Granville Lutheran School is accredited by AdvancEd, NLSA (National Lutheran Schools Accreditation) and WRISA (Wisconsin Religious and Independent School Accreditation) and a partner school of Center for Urban Teaching, Partners Advancing Values in Education (PAVE) and Schools That Can Milwaukee.
In January 2014, Berea Lutheran Church planted a Gospel worship site in the sanctuary of Granville Lutheran School. Sunday worship services are conducted by Pastor Jeff Mueller, with traditional and non-traditional hymns and gospel music under the direction of Berea Granville's Minister of Music, Ken Daniels.
Worship services at Granville Lutheran School are held each Wednesday morning throughout the school year. The services consist of prayer, praise music, Scripture readings, and a Law and Gospel message appropriate for the theme of the day.
Granville Lutheran continues to develop ways to connect Christ to the classroom, educating the whole child, especially his or her faith walk.
The Northstars athletic program is an extension of the Christian Education provided at Granville Lutheran School. It supplements the physical education curriculum, providing additional physical activities for students in grades 5-8 who choose to participate. Granville Lutheran students complete in 7/8 girls volleyball, 5/6 and 7/8 boys and girls basketball, co-ed track and co-ed soccer.
Granville Lutheran School belongs to the MLESAA (Milwaukee Lutheran Elementary Schools Athletic Association).
